La Condesa is one of the most charming neighbourhoods in Mexico City, known for its leafy boulevards, art deco architecture, and laid-back vibe. You can stroll through parks like Parque México and Parque España, stop at one of the many terraces, and admire the architecture along Avenida Amsterdam and Avenida Tamaulipas. Colorful street art and lovely boutique stores pop up around every corner, and in the evenings La Condesa comes alive with cozy bars and live music. Curious? In this travel guide, I’m sharing the best things to do and see in La Condesa Mexico City, including tips for attractions, hotels and restaurants.

Where is La Condesa in Mexico City?

La Condesa is centered around the wide avenues Tamaulipas, Michoacán, and Veracruz. The neighborhood lies between the Chilpancingo and Patriotismo metro stations, making it easy to reach. Right next to La Condesa you’ll find Roma, another lovely neighborhood that can be explored by food, making it easy to combine both neighborhood and its attractions.

Things to do and see in La Condesa

Planning a visit to La Condesa or already wandering its lovely streets? This neighborhood is full of art deco details, cozy cafés, and creative energy. It’s also one of the best areas to stay in Mexico City, central, green, and within walking distance of some of the city’s best restaurants. Hopefully my tips will help you to get the maximum out of your stay in La Condesa Mexico City.

Stroll or cycle through Parque México

At the heart of La Condesa lies Parque México, a lush and atmospheric park with winding paths, fountains, ponds, and plenty of locals walking their dogs. Grab a bench and watch daily life unfold, or stop by one of the many cafés and restaurants surrounding the park.

Visit Parque España

Smaller and quieter than Parque México, Parque España, tucked between colonial buildings, is equally charming. Going to Parque Espana is one of the best things to do in La Condesa if you want to relax. In the morning, locals gather here for yoga or coffee, giving the park a calm, welcoming feel.

Wander along Avenida Amsterdam

One of the things you want to do when you are in La Condesa Mexico City is to stroll along the circular, tree-lined Avenida Amsterdam, just like the locals. You’ll walk past elegant townhouses, stop at bookshops, galleries, or coffee bars, and soak up the nice atmosphere.

Sip mezcal at La Clandestina

Looking for a great mezcal experience? La Clandestina is a cozy bar with a wide selection of artisanal mezcal from across Mexico. Sit outside on sunny days or head inside when it’s cooler. Not sure which mezcal to try? The staff will happily guide you through the flavors.

Avenida Tamaulipas

Avenida Tamaulipas is one of the famous streets in La Condesa, lined with leafy trees, lively cafés, bars, and trendy shops. By day, it’s a favorite spot for locals walking their dogs, and by evening, the street comes alive with music and buzzing terraces. It’s the perfect place to settle down in the late afternoon, sip a drink, and enjoy some relaxed people-watching.

Book a guided tour in La Condesa

Want to dive deeper into the neighborhood? Book a walking tour with a local guide and discover La Condesa’s things to do, markets, parks, street art, and foodie hotspots. Prefer something different? You can also explore La Condesa with a tuk tuk or bike tour

Find streetart

La Condesa is full of surprises, with colorful murals tucked between green corners and side streets. Around Calle Tamaulipas and Circuito Ámsterdam you’ll find some of the best hidden gems.

Have lunch or dinner at Lardo

Lardo has been one of my favorite restaurants in La Condesa for years, and having a meal here is still one of the things I like to do when I am in Mexico City. The only downside? I’m no longer the only one who likes this place, it’s busy at pretty much all hours of the day. This stylish spot with an open kitchen is known for its wood-fired pizzas, but the ceviche, burrata, and homemade pastas (don’t miss the tagliatelle with mushrooms) are just as good. Make sure to book ahead.

Discover local art in La Condesa

La Condesa and neighbouring Roma are creative hubs where art and design are everywhere. Visit Mooni to see and buy colorful works by Mexican artists, or check out House of Gaga and Proyecto Paralelo for cutting-edge contemporary art. If you are into art, you will find these spots among the top La Condesa attractions.

Taste your way through a food tour

One of the best things to do in La Condesa Mexico City, if you are into food is a food tour. Not only will you get to know the neighborhood’s history and vibe, but you’ll also visit some of the oldest cantinas and sample countless local bites, like tacos al carbón and churros from one of the city’s most famous churrerías. It is also possible to book a food tour by bike.

Try morning yoga in the parks of La Condesa

Start your day like a local with yoga in Parque México or Parque España. Classes are beginner-friendly, and the morning energy in the parks is refreshing. Bring a mat or rent one from a nearby studio.

Churreria El Moro

If you’re on Instagram, chances are you’ve come across this place, thanks to its beautifully traditional blue-and-white interior and the irresistible treats they serve. El Moro in La Condesa is my go-to spot for churros. They’re freshly made on the spot, and when dipped in warm chocolate sauce, absolutely delicious. You’ll find several branches across Mexico City.

El Moro in La Condesa is my go-to spot for churros.

Heladería Roxy

Step back in time at Heladería Roxy, a retro-style ice cream shop serving homemade flavors since the 1940s. Try tropical options like guanábana or mamey, while enjoying the nostalgic atmosphere.

Walk to Chapultepec Park

From La Condesa it’s just a 15-minute walk to Bosque de Chapultepec, the largest city park in Latin America, home to lakes, walking trails, and some of Mexico City’s best museums. It is worth checking it out.

Browse books at El Péndulo

One of the most beautiful bookstores in Mexico City is El Péndulo, with locations in La Condesa, Roma, and Polanco. The Polanco branch often makes the lists of the world’s most stunning bookshops, but the La Condesa location is equally worth a visit. It’s smaller, but just as atmospheric, with a curated collection of books that invites you to browse for hours.

Discover Roma

Roma is the vibrant, creative neighbourhood of La Condesa and one of Mexico City’s most stylish districts. Known for its tree-lined streets, art nouveau mansions, independent boutiques, and contemporary galleries, it’s a place where you’ll find something inspiring around every corner Combining La Condesa and Roma in Mexico City is the best way to enjoy the creative scene and its things to do in one trip.
